Successful PAC auction
The organizers of the Clinton Parent Advisory Council auction and dinner are very pleased with the results, and all those who worked to make it happen should be given kudos for a job well done.
The delicious appetizers and roast beef dinner were enjoyed by all. There appeared to be more tables of silent auction items than in previous years, and there were a large number of bigger ticket items for the live auction.
Home town auctioneer Russell Allison and his helpers did an amazing job of keeping everything moving throughout the evening. There were some sentimental items included this year. Jill Robinson used fabrics from the late Stella Martin’s collection to make a quilt, which was then donated. Martin was a long-time teacher at Clinton Elementary School. Val Bissat had used snowflakes made by students for a previous PAC auction as templates to make a quilt. This too was a popular item in the bidding wars. Local beef, loads of firewood, etc. were all eagerly snapped up. Wine racks, complete with numerous bottles of wine, were also very popular. The number and variety of donations was just too great to document, but as the auctioneer stated, “There’s something here for everyone!” At the end of the auction the preliminary tally showed that in excess of $15,500 had been raised.
The chair of the Dinner and Auction Committee, Kimberly Thomas, stated at the beginning of the evening that this was the 25th Clinton School PAC auction. The funds raised provide much-needed items for the students. These have included computers, books, class trips, and more. This year the PAC auction funds have allowed the purchase of a 3-D printer, and a Lego robot that the students had to build and program.
The PAC auction team is very appreciative of the support of the Village of Clinton businesses and residents, and the surrounding communities of Cache Creek, Ashcroft, 70 Mile House, 100 Mile House, Kamloops, and more. A number of businesses and individuals have consistently supported this event over the years.
Thank you to everyone who made this event happen: the volunteers, the donors, the cooks, the grad class for doing cleanup, and everyone else involved. Well done!
Legion craft fair
There will be a craft fair at the Royal Canadian Legion #194, Clinton Branch on Saturday, November 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Come and pick up some unique items for Christmas decorating and/or gifts. It’s also a great place to pick up some fresh home baking. You can enjoy a lunch of soup and buns courtesy of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Stocking stuffer campaign
Integris Credit Union and Insurance Services in Clinton is at it again. The staff at these businesses have purchased empty Christmas stockings for the fifth year in a row.
Community members who would like to fill a stocking can pick up an empty stocking, fill it for a community member, and return it to Integris before December 20. The staff distribute the stockings to those who could use a little extra pick-me-up at Christmas.
In the past the recipients of the stockings have been children who might not be as privileged or who could use something extra; seniors who might be alone at Christmas; or others who may just need a little extra kindness at Christmas.
A list is being generated at Integris, and they are asking for input as to who may be in need of a stocking. You can drop in and pick up a stocking to help brighten up someone’s day!
