Ashcroft’s heritage committee celebrated Heritage Week this year by focussing on the Thompson River. They invited Kumsheen Rafting (http://kumsheen.com) founder and author Bernie Fandrich to come and speak. Fandrich has rafted the river since the 1970s and is intimately familiar with all of its nooks and crannies. He has just published a book, Majestic Thompson, and had them on hand to sell and sign. Over 100 people turned out to listen and watch Fandrich’s fascinating presentation, and to view pictures of the Thompson taken by local photographers.
