Vehicle-related incidents dominated the 100 Mile House RCMP’s time last week.

On March 19 Sgt. Brian Lamb said officers responded to reports of a single-vehicle collision with injuries on Eagle Creek Road. On arrival, officers found Emergency Health Services already on the scene treating the occupant of the vehicle, who had sustained minor injuries.

On investigation, officers determined the vehicle had left the roadway, though the driver could not say how the incident had occurred. Lamb said that impairment was ruled out as a possible factor.

That same day members of the B.C. Highway patrol stopped a vehicle on Canim Hendrix Lake Road when a license plate query revealed the vehicle was uninsured. On speaking with the male driver of the vehicle, Lamb said the driver admitted to RCMP that he did not have a valid driver’s license or insurance. Officers issued violation tickets for both offences, a defective vehicle ticket and towed the uninsured vehicle.

Another driver was found to not have a valid driver’s license during a check stop on Canim Hendrix Lake Road on March 21. Lamb said officers discovered the driver, a male, was prohibited from driving and arrested him. He has since been released pending a court date while the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

A vehicle was reported stolen from the 700 block of Sollows Road on Saturday, March 23. Lamb said that RCMP were told that overnight a white 2006 Ford F350 with BC license plate RW0-485 was taken from the property. The vehicle has yet to be recovered.

Also on Saturday RCMP responded to reports of a vehicle collision on Highway 97 near Canim Hendrix Lake Road. On arrival, RCMP talked to a motorist who reported driving behind a Black Dodge pickup truck heading south when a sheet of plywood flew out of the truck box and struck his vehicle.

Lamb said the motorist reported that the truck did not stop and seemed to speed away to avoid fault. Extensive damage was done to the motorist’s vehicle, but no injuries were caused by the incident.

Later that same day RCMP responded to another single-vehicle collision involving a commercial vehicle on Highway 97. Lamb said officers located a semi-truck that had lost its load on the highway after allegedly hitting a curb.

The truck’s load was mostly food items that were cleared from the highway with minimal disruption to traffic.

Anyone with further information on these incidents is asked to contact RCMP at 250-395-2456, 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and online at bccrimestoppers.com.
