Fire destroys log home on Musgrave Road in Clearwater

The fire occurred Saturday night

Fire shot high in the sky and and silhouetted the trees in the nearby residential forest in the District of Clearwater Saturday night (April 6).

This was the scene found late Saturday night when the Clearwater Fire Department assisted by the Blackpool Fire Rescue crew arrived at Musgrave Road to find a log home fully engulfed in flames.

A nearby neighbour who lives four houses away, Todd Leppky, told the Clearwater Times, “I would say it was approximately 10:30 p.m. when the fire trucks went past our house and then seconds later there was a loud explosion and that’s when I went outside and noticed the house completely engulfed in flames. I’ve never seen a house destroyed by a fire that quick ever. We are thankful our neighbours got out safely.”

A resident in another subdivision with a higher vantage point, Rhonda England, said, “The house was fully in flames, I could see it from the hill we live on not far away. I am fire-proofing around our house all of the time. Our thoughts are with this family.”

Fire crews were still on scene at 1 a.m. on April 7.

Blackpool Fire Rescue said, “Blackpool fire crews assisted Clearwater firefighters with a fully involved structure fire late last night. Our crews provided exposure lines for the rear of the structure. A devastating loss for the homeowners and our thoughts go out to them at this time.”

The Clearwater Fire Department noted the structure burned fast and could not be saved adding no injuries occurred and all occupants were able to escape.

After approximately six hours the structure was fully extinguished and members could return the hall at 4 a.m.
