David Dubois – Cache Creek councillor candidate

1. How long have you lived in your community?

I have lived in Cache Creek since 2008.

2. What is your occupation?

Manager of Business Development of a company that sells commercial and institutional biomass boilers.

3. Have you done any volunteer work here? Which group(s)?

I have been involved with Winding Rivers Arts and Performance Society as an actor and crew. I am an active member of the Ashcroft Cache Creek Rotary Club.

4. Have you served before in municipal government or on a Board of School Trustees? If yes, where, when, and for how long?

I am just completing my first 4-year term as a councillor.

5. Which issues are most important to you?

There are a few key issues. The first is ensuring that the new landfill is up and running in a timely manner.

The second is to continue to work through the challenges in regards to the flooding, fire and mudslides. The third is to develop appropriate housing for all residents especially rental. This will help local businesses to attract the employees they need to survive and grow.

6. How would you address them?

We need to work with Belkorp, the Province and the various stakeholders to ensure the landfill comes online in a timely and sustainable way, as well as having the resources to return our community to pre-event conditions. To ensure we have housing, we need to work actively with local property owners to develop our vacant property stock or look at alternative solutions.

7. Additional comments.

There are additional issues we are working on, including public transit, community safety and community services.
