Loon Lake man faces weapons and drug charge

Drugs, guns and more seized in Loon Lake

On Feb. 23, the RCMP Southeast District General Investigations Section conducted a search warrant at Loon Lake Lodge, a commercial recreational lodge facility, seizing illicit drugs, illegal firearms and cash. One man and a woman were arrested and detained.“The RCMP SED GIS was assisted by officers from the Clinton, Lillooet, Ashcroft Detachment Traffic Services, Kamloops Police Dog Roving Unit and Traffic Services who converged to carry out the warrant execution on the lodge and lake side cabins resort on Loon Lake. “Just before 10 am, an adult male associated to the resort was pulled over by police where he was safely arrested without incident away from the resort. The search warrant was then executed at the main private dwelling on the lodge property, where an adult woman was located and detained by police,” stated Cpl Dan Moskaluk, Senior Media Relations Officer for Southeast/North Districts.The following is a summary of items located in the main residence:- A pistol grip sawed off double barreled 12 gauge shotgun, which was loaded and found unsecure on top of a bed headboard in a bedroom;- A 410 shotgun unsecure and hidden underneath the cushions of a couch beside two bundles of cash also in the same bedroom;- Trafficking paraphernalia, including a scale, a money counter, and small quantity of suspected crack cocaine, a very large quantity of prescription pills suspected to be oxycotine and morphine, all found in the same bedroom;- 1.2 ounces of marijuana bud stored in a freezer in the lodge’s grocery store attached to the dwelling house;- What is believed to be Cocaine, oxycotine, morphine, other unknown pills, ecstasy and marihuana were seized from the dwelling house along with just over $2,000 in cash seized; and- A total of 21 guns and ammunition which were seized from the dwelling house.The man was released via a Recognizance with a Kamloops court date of May 2 to answer to firearms and drug related offences. The woman was released on the same day without process.
