Frances Ethel Blacklock

Born Darnacombe, Devon, England on March 16, 1920, passed away peacefully February 11, 2010 at the A&D extended care hospital.

Pre-deceased by her husband WR (Dick) Blacklock (1979) & also 3 siblings Mary, Winnie & Adrian.

Frances came to Canada with her family in 1924 to Antelope, Saskatchewan. The family later moved to a farm in Matsqui BC which is still occupied by her nephew & wife. Here she met her husband Dick & they married in 1939. Together they were employed by Abbotsford Bakery until 1948 when they moved to Ashcroft. There they purchased & started the Ashcroft Bakery which they ran until Dick’s passing in 1979.

In Frances’ retirment years (which weren’t idle) she loved to travel, tending her wonderful garden which her families reaped the benefits especially the tomatoes. She also took her daily crib games very seriously - you had to have your quarter!!!!!! For special birthdays Mom had to push the limits by river rafting & hot air ballooning with her family to name a few celebrations.

Mom belonged & volunteered with many organizations & has many dear friends in her 62 years in Ashcroft. She will be missed.

Service will be held at Ashcroft Zion United Church, February 20, 2010 at 1pm. Lois Petty officiating.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Jackson House Family Friends, Box 773 Ashcroft, B.C. or the Alzheimer’s Society.
