Leonard Clarke Sr.

Leonard Clarke Sr. passed away on Tuesday August 16th, 2011 in Kamloops, B.C. at the age of 94 years. Leonard was born July 21, 1917 in Banff, Alberta, the eldest son in a very large family. Len enlisted in the Seaforth Highlanders in 1940/41 and married Patricia Mathews in 1941 while in England prior to the Sicily/Italy Campaign. Mustered out of the Army in late 1945 and returned to Canada. His new wife and their two young boys arrived May 27th 1946. Len worked for B.C. Electric in Vancouver for several years where he and Pat had two more children, a boy and a girl, before moving to Hope, B.C. He worked at several jobs prior to 1952 when he joined the RCAF as a firefighter. Len remained in the RCAF until he retired in 1967 and became a civilian again retiring in Comox on Vancouver Island. Len’s wife Pat passed away in 1970 and he is also predeceased by three of his children. Len lived in Prince George, Kamloops and finally settling in Ashcroft, B.C. Len leaves to mourn his passing 1 son Len Jr. of Lacombe, Alberta, 2 brothers Jim in Pembroke, Ontario, Richard (Snuffy) in Chase, B.C. several nieces, nephews and friends throughout B.C. and Ontario. There will be no Service at Len’s request. Thompson Valley Funeral Home Ashcroft entrusted with arrangements.
