October 27, 1928 - July 17, 2018
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother Vida Angus July 17, 2018 in Chilliwack BC. Predeceased by her parents Ian and Bessie Angus and sisters Yvonne Morison, Patience Murdock, Joan Amos, and Joyce Mather.
Survived by her children Kathy, Matt (Linda), Megan (Garry), Camille (John), 8 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren, cousins Marilyn and Beryl, and nieces and nephews.
Born at Grace, spent early years in N. Vancouver, spent her teens on Lasqueti Island during WWII clearing land blowing stumps with dynamite, got her pilots license 1950 while living and working in Vancouver, then moved to Bamfield. Married and moved to Bull Harbour, Port Hardy, back to Bamfield, Richmond, Campbell River, Calgary, Terrace (got her drivers license here to the chagrine of her children), Ashcroft. Divorced she and the 3 younger kids lived in Vancouver.
Later she moved to Clinton, Kaleden, Parksville, and back to Kaleden where she spent many years enjoying her passion for gardening and helping her daughter Megan and Garry raise their three kids. Mom, Megan and Garry lived together for almost thirty plus years - including a seven year stint in Ecuador. When they returned to Canada they lived on Saturna Island and then moved on to Chilliwack where her health failed.
Mom loved gardening, reading, writing, music and travelling. The ocean always called her and she loved her tallships. She managed several trips back to Scotland.
Mom's gift to everyone she met was her hospitality - you never left her place without a cup of tea, maybe a cookie/piece of loaf and perhaps a plant.
Once you were on her radar you would often be greeted by a handwritten letter in the mail asking about you and sharing news of her life and the world around her.
She was the hub of our family and we are going to miss her terribly.
Due to illness in our family we are having an immediate family get together only and Kathy will be down on the island later to visit with our extended family then.
