MARRIOTT – Violet May (Peg) Marriott nee (Price) born Sept. 6, 1900 and passed away June 15, 2008 in the Ponderosa Lodge Kamloops, B.C. Peg was born in Great Briton, raised in Burnaby, and living her life in the Cariboo. “Peg” will be remembered as truly a lady from a vanished era. Her independence of spirit, enthusiasm for life and learning, love for the Cariboo, and determination to succeed, are well known by all who had the pleasure of knowing the “Lady of Big Bar Lake”. Peg arrived in the Cariboo in 1918 as a young teacher, married and later became the proprietor of Big Bar Lake Guest Ranch. Peg is predeceased by her husband Harry, their son Ron and grandson Cal, survived by grandchildren Joan, Don and Len Marriott, several great grandchildren, nephews (Price) and many dear and close friends. A private Burial will be in the Pioneer Cemetery in Clinton. There will be no formal service at Peg’s request but a tea in her honor was held on Monday June 23rd at 1:00 pm at the Clinton Memorial Hall. Peg will be missed, but never forgotten, and those who knew her, will celebrate her life through precious memories. We love you Peg. We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the loving care given so willingly by the homecare and staff of Ashcroft, Clinton and all the special staff at the Ponderosa Lodge Kamloops. In Lieu of flowers to honor Peg’s place in the history of Clinton, the “Peg Marriott Scholarship” was established in 2004.
