Fraser-Nicola MLA Jackie Tegart.

Happy New Year, Fraser-Nicola!

Did you make a New Year’s resolution for 2017?

Since I was elected in 2013, my New Years’ resolutions have all had one thing in common: they’re about you. Every year, I’ve recommitted myself to hearing from more of you and working hard to represent you in Victoria.

Just as I’m committed to putting you first, our government is committed to putting you and all British Columbians first.

Our plan to do that starts with building a strong foundation by controlling spending and creating jobs through a strong and diverse economy. Having this foundation allows us to focus on the things that matter most to you and your families—and we’ll continue to do that this year.

This spring, we’ll deliver our fifth consecutive balanced budget, which means we can continue to have the lowest taxes in Canada for middle-class families, and you can continue to have a little more money in your pockets.

We’re creating 71,000 jobs in three years by investing $20 billion in public infrastructure like hospitals, schools, roads, and the Site C dam. And we’ll keep helping people take advantage of these jobs by investing in skills training.

We’ll also keep putting you first in health care. For 2017, we’ve cancelled the planned increase to MSP rates and gone one step further to reduce premiums for those on Premium Assistance.

Thanks to our plan and your hard work, B.C. is booming. But we know there’s still more work to be done, and we’re ready to keep at it in 2017.

As for me, I’ve made my resolution, and I’m committed to keeping it. So I hope I’ll see you soon; and if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact my constituency office at (250)-378-8831.
