Wild Game banquet
And what a banquet it was! The Clinton and District Outdoor Sportsmen Association (CADOSA) held their ever-popular wild game banquet on Saturday, April 22 in the Clinton Memorial Hall. With 21 dishes prepared with wild game, there was no shortage of tasty dishes from which to choose. There was also ham and roast beef for the less adventurous diners.
The wild game dishes included Wild Bill’s Italian Balls (bison), Gobble Berry Pie (wild turkey), Bullwinkle Balls (moose), Caught Ya Bugling (elk), Bye Son! I’m Off to Yorkshire (bison), Sweet Moose Treat (moose), Turmeric Tom (cougar), Sweet Apple Curry Big Horn (sheep), Elk in a Pot (elk), Sweet and Sour Bugle Balls (elk), Boogie Woogie Bugle Strips (elk), Felis Stirus Fryus (cougar), Honey Garlic Elk, Blue Balled Yak, Cariboo Caribou, Gourmet Deer, Jalapeno Moose Poppers, Moose Wonton Cups, Caprese Moose Skewers, Buffalo Burger Bake (bison), and Sweet and Spicy Wild Mutton Balls (sheep).
Unfortunately, I had to leave before the winners of the cooking contest were announced. There was a table of prizes for those who cooked the wild game dishes.
Following the meal there was a live auction, with Russel Allison doing the honours as auctioneer. There was an ongoing silent auction and games of chance as well.
This is the only major fundraiser that CADOSA holds to raise money for the projects that they take on. These projects have included the maintenance of the Haller Trail, Grinder Trail, and Porcupine Creek Trail; providing handicap access at Kelly Lake; and upkeep of the Jesmond Lookout. They also provide a $1,000 post-secondary bursary to a David Stoddart School grad. They invited people to become a member for a modest fee, and take part in the conservation of fish and wildlife and trail use in our region, and more.
The evening ended with music by Rolling Thunder (DJ Tom Moe).

Nurse for Clinton Health Centre
Residents of Clinton were pleased to learn that Sonja Sullivan has been hired as the full-time Clinton primary care nurse to staff the Clinton Health and Wellness Centre. A new casual nurse, Dominica Luethe, has also been hired to fill in when Sonja needs time off.
A big welcome to both of these professionals for choosing to work in Clinton, and thank you to Solutions Staffing for providing a private agency nurse to carry the Health Centre through the month of April while a permanent nurse was sought.
Seedy Sunday in Clinton
The Clinton Communities in Bloom committee members are excited with the line-up of presenters, displays, vendors, and more attending this year’s Seedy Sunday on April 30. It runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Clinton Memorial Hall (306 Lebourdais Avenue).
In addition to the usual plant and seed sales and seed swap, there will be displays by Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation (waterwise info, drip kits, Xeriscaping, and composting) and the Bonaparte Watershed Society, plus a display about invasive weed management, pollinator and bee information, garden-related vendors, and more.
Bring your garden plan map for a free on-site consultation about planning your garden to collect seeds. Bring your bulk seeds along to have cleaned in the winnower. There will be a silent auction, as well as free activities for the kids.
Lunch will be available on site and admission is free! Come and join in the fun.
