Striking a balance: Daffodil Tea a success despite the lack of daffodils

The harsh winter has affected flower growers in the Fraser Valley, meaning there were no daffodils available for sale.

Daffodil Tea

The Clinton Seniors Association held a very successful Daffodil Tea on Wednesday, March 8. There was a very good turnout, as well as more than 50 take-out orders of strawberry shortcake delivered to businesses and individuals who could not attend.

Although no daffodils were available due to the extreme winter conditions affecting flower growers in the Fraser Valley, there were potted primroses and pansies available to buy. Their bright colours reminded people that spring will indeed come (hopefully sooner rather than later). The bake table was also very well received.

Congratulations to the Seniors Association for organizing and hosting another great event. The students from David Stoddart School did a terrific job of serving everyone.

St. Patrick’s Day Tea

The South Cariboo Historical Museum Society will host a St. Patrick’s Day Tea at the Clinton Museum from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, March 17.

There is no admission fee and everyone is welcome to attend, enjoy some tea, and see what improvements have been made at the museum.

Clinton Health Care Auxiliary

The Clinton Health Care Auxiliary is a group of dedicated people who work to raise funds to purchase items for the Clinton Health Centre, Royal Inland Hospital, and other health-related sites. They also provide a bursary for a Clinton grad who is continuing his or her education in the health field.

Traditionally they hold an annual yard sale on the first Saturday in June. With dwindling numbers, they fear that they may not be able to hold that event this year.

Anyone who thinks this may be a group they would like to help can attend the next meeting at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21 at the Clinton Health Centre. Membership is open to both men and women.

Council meeting

The Village of Clinton council meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. The next regular meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22 in the council chambers at the Village Office.

Residents are welcome to attend and ask questions or voice comments or concerns about any item on that evening’s agenda at the start of the meeting.

PAC meeting

The next regular meeting of the Parent Advisory Council will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 23 in the library at David Stoddart School.

Parents, grandparents, or caregivers of students at DSS are encouraged to attend.
